Toyota recalls vehicles →
Floor mats engaging the accelarator and getting stuck is the culprit. My quesiton is - isn’t this possible in every single car regardless of make or model that has floor mats? In the meantime - the Prius will be without floor mats at the driver’s seat.

Should have just gotten one on opening day… there seemed to be plenty in stock and there weren’t even any lineups. I guess I lucked out!

CBC’s list of product recalls. I particularly like Black & Decker’s trimmer warning: “The trimmer/edger’s spool, spool cap and pieces of trimmer string can come loose during use and become airborne projectiles, posing a serious laceration hazard to the user, as well as bystanders. The trimmer/edgers can also overheat, posing a burn hazard to consumers.” So not only can...
Back to my Mac
Back to my Mac is not new, but every time I use it, I realize how cool it is. Sitting in a coffee shop I can get direct access to my home computer’s set of files or even share the screen so I can have direct control of it. All password-protected of course.
I’ve even used Back to my Mac to transfer a file that was sitting on my home computer to a client, because my home Internet...
3D Movies - just a fad (again)? I hope so...
My wife and I recently watched the 3D version of Coraline in the comfort of our own home. As the movie came equipped with 3D glasses, we obviously watched the 3D version (the disc comes with both versions).
It was suggested that we watch it in dark surroundings and that it would probably take about 15 minutes or so for your eyes to adjust. Well, sadly, our eyes never adjusted. Or maybe they did,...
Street-cons as tour guides →
Naples is using ex-cons as tour guides. They dispense advice on what to see and how to stay safe. Interesting!

Searching for the best search
On the advice of a friend, I switched my default search engine on my iPhone’s Safari browser from Google to Yahoo!. I must say that I’m impressed. What I like most is that it is properly formatted and designed to be used on a mobile device, and specifically the iPhone. Search results are clear, readable, and formatted for easy clicking. The Google search results page still looks like...

It appears that my influence is spreading like wild fire.

Why start now? Simple. I joined tumblr today because my friend Carlos told me to. I had been toying with the idea of blogging for some time. Here I go. Thanks to peer pressure and a recent book purchase “A Year of Mornings”.
Mass Storage
Today I noticed I was down to 28GB of free space on my primary 500GB hard drive… and mildy panicked (can you mildly panic? I’ll say yes). I remember when the thought of a 28GB hard drive was ludicrous. And now I find when that’s all the free space I have, its not enough.
In the real world (the world outside my computer) I am anything but a pack-rat. I have a “if it...

Comment away!
Well I changed themes so I could implement the Disqus commenting system with a little more ease. Not having the comments available was starting to get annoying!
Hope it works!

'Food miles are, at best, a marketing fad.' →
That’s not my quote. Its from a professor at UofT that is making the argument that buying local produce may not be as good to the environment as previously thought. He makes the argument that growing foods closer to home can wind up having a worse environmental impact than having it grown in an area where its more efficient to grow that crop and to have it shipped.
Though he makes a point,...

iPhone Internet Tethering
Had to take the Prius in for an oil change and other stuff this morning, so I decided to wait for the car at the local Tim’s while the dealership works on it. Tim’s, just having recently adopted the magical world of credit card purchases, certainly doesn’t have WiFi. Perhaps by the time we’re receiving Internet content directly to our brains, they’ll have installed...

My PC experience on my Mac
The hard drive of my MacBook died on me Saturday. After numerous attempts at fixing the drive, I had to acknowledge the fact that it was a physical problem with the drive that prevented it from working. Luckily I didn’t have much of anything important saved on the drive as its not my primary computer. I had also been meaning to upgrade the hard drive to something with a larger capacity...

Tumblr Question/Answer Experiment
Apparently if I end my posting in a question, people will have the ability to answer, albeit a shortened phrase of so many characters.
Perhaps this is a work around for not having comments? Ohh… there it is. If a question mark is the last thing you post in your posting, a little check mark pops up asking if you want to let people answer your question.
What do you think - neat (comments...

VIP theaters and why they suck
Last night my wife and I had tickets to see the latest Harry Potter installment, The Half-Blood Prince. Normally we would wait a week or two before venturing out to see a potentially favourite film to avoid the crowds and line-ups, and in the case of a film targeted to a younger demographic, to keep noise in the theater at a minimum. We thought we would be clever and view the film in a VIP theater...

Fusionista
I’ve gone and done something completely out of character. I bought a Ford.
Test driving the Fusion opened my eyes to the fact that FoMoCo might actually be on to something with their newest lineup of vehicles. I’ve always liked the styling of the original Fusion model - it had a somewhat class look to it - to it wasn’t enough to mitigate the worry of buying from an American...

Potter Tonight!
The Half-Blood Prince will be the first Harry Potter movie that I’ll see having already read the book. I’m actually more excited because of it even though I ultimately know the outcome. I hope they manage to stay true to the novel.
I am expecting this to be one of my favourite cinematic experiences so far this year that don’t include excessive lens flares. Seriously - Star Trek...
